First of all, Henry.....our thoughts are with you and your family. Much more important than a bunch of old guys playing a little boy's game!
I think we have come across many excellent ideas that should make this league stronger!
1. Jon Vatcher represents a lot of what i like about this game.....he was very successful and rubbed a lot of people who were NOT on his team the wrong way. His input is invaluable and his affiliation with this league would be nothing but positive. (and yes i did play for him for a couple of years).
2. Earlier start, more games! Every great team i've seen is a healthy mixture of college kids and older guys.
3. North Haledon and Angelo have always done a great job with the tournaments! With that being said, Breslin was always a good event, a NEUTRAL site, and drew a pretty decent crowd! A 50/50 plus admission should more than cover the costs.
4. Danny is 100% correct...some players need to take a more active role on their teams. Jorge, I will be happy to assist.
As a 18 year vet of the various forms of this league, it thrills me to see this much dialogue AFTER the season....let's keep it going!

I used to play with Bogota about 5 yrs ago. I am still friends with people in this league and I want to you guys to keep it going.
Henry you do not know me but I know what you are going through. My dad had MS for years and it can be a nasty thing. Keep her spirits up and support her that is all you can do. I did it with my dad for years and he never let it get him down. Ed Ahearn knew my dad and he can tell you he never let it get the best of him. Myy thoughts are with you

When the Teaneck Stars made it to the fourth round and had a very good opprotunity to go further. I was shocked by the fact that the starting pitcher decided to pitch for a team in the Lou Gerhig league next day so the team was unable to use him... Maybe I am bring up something that is not important, but the LOU GERHIG LEAGUE!!!!! Has this league surpassed our league? Has this happened to any other team this year? Maybe North Jersey baseball players have no idea what leagues are competitive. Just something to think about.

Henry,
I echo the best wishes and prayers for your daughter. Also, having yesterday watched my only daughter get married, you have much to look forward to and I only wish you and your family the best as that event draws nearer.
Also, to correct one discrepancy in previous posts, while Maplewood was a member of the Met League for only two years and then a member of the merged Leagues for only one year, the team did not "fold". To the contrary it still exists today, albeit with a different manager, and actively participates in the Morris Majors. Our reasons were two-fold, one the inordinate distance we had to travel, particularly to 6:00 PM twilight games, with most of my roster living and working in Essex, Union, and Morris counties, and second because of the inability of the Met League management to disperse the funds that were deposited with them as security when we joined. To this day, the final accounting of those monies has not been received by this writer.
Hope you all are able to put together a plan that will work for you and preserve the brand of baseball that is played.
Regards,
Bob Thiemer
