Rick,
IF I decide to come back next year, I would be looking to be affiliated with the NABF and not the AABC.
As I have stated on many occasions, I think that ALL of the AABC parameters are antequated.
1) 21 man roster with NO re-entry
2) STUPID bye and no-byes to the next round
3) RUNS ALLOWED!!!!!
Are you f-ing kidding me?
??
32 Wins ans 3 Losses and we are elimnated because of RUNS ALLOWED?
?
JOKE, JOKE, JOKE!
AABC can you say Met League???
Pay attention before Bellville and Cliffside Park are playing each other 6 times during the regular season.
I have heard that there were complaints with the NCAA bracket style tournament that Angelo agreed to install for this year's league tournament.
Can someone please have the balls to give their honest opinion as to why there were complaints.
It is my feeling, after many, many years of participating in tournaments that this is the best format around.
Yes it gives a tremendous advantage to the team that wins the first three games, but that is what playing baseball games is all about.
WINNING.
Not winning by 2 runs or winning by 4 runs.
The double elimination format gives teams a chance to come back if they have a hiccup.
WE WERE OUT AFTER LOSING ONE GAME!
This is one of the exact reasons that I had that tournament in Hackensack because I wanted to insulate myself against the BS that comes with the AABC tournys.
If you feel that you would not have enough pitching for a tournament of that style, guess what...you will need that many pitchers when you go away so WAKE UP!
I'm putting it out there right now...the regionals are coming back to North Jersey for the next two years as that is the length of the contract...if the league wants Hackensack back, that is a Hackensack team that wants me affiliated with it, two things HAVE to happen.
1) Hackensack is the host team (North Haledon, in fairness is not ready to be a competitive host yet)
2) NCAA double elimination format
Without these requests being met, I would be inclined to go the route of the NABF as I prefer their TRUE double elimination format.
I think that we have EARNED it, and I think through our experience and contacts we could get it done professionally.
MAKE NO MISTAKE, BOTH OF THOSE REQUESTS WOULD HAVE TO BE MET.
NO SOUR GRAPES WITH REGARDS TO LOSING IN ALBANY JUST THE FRUSTRATION OF KNOWING THAT THE BEST TEAM DID NOT ADVANCE BECAUSE OF RUNS ALLOWED.
RUNS ALLOWED!!!!!
Bob K as far as playing the finals for the league championship, do you REALLY think that after playing 5 games that Cresskill was going to beat Hackensack twice to win the championship?
I know that is not the point, but in my opinion there are MANY, MANY other things that need to be fixed before we pick on that.
The things that Jorge is talking about is a bigger one for example.
I do not know all of the facts, but I know that Danny's team went up there and represented our league in a positive way.
That is not to say that Teaneck or Jersey City would not have done the same.
Anyway, I have said all along that this league belongs to the teams that play in it.
WE should vote and decide what the parameters are for our regular season and playoff formats.
That is one thing that the Met league had right.
I am going to start a new thread called next season.
With the exception of Mark DeMenna, please feel free to post your thoughts on how we can improve the league.
Thank you all for your time and thoughts, and I HOPE that I will see you all next year.
