Cresskill in another extra inning game. Angelo just got off the phone with the site director where Cresskill is playing. They are in the top of the 9th in a 2-2 game. Cresskill just changed pitchers and the first pitch was a double of the wall. Cresskill down 3-2. They will call me with the final score when it is done. I am also waiting to hear from the site director at the other field to se how Hackensack did.

Nice wins Farbs, keep it going! Is Messina the Mo Rivera of the Stan Musial Baseball?

HACKENSACK LOST 4-0 IN THE MORNING GAME.
THEY NOW HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE THE OUTCOME OF THE 12:30 PM GAME. DUE TO RIDICULOUS AABC TIE BREAKER RULES, THEY NEED THE TEAM FROM BROOKLYN TO LOSE ANDSCORE AT LEAST 4 RUNS OR MORE. DON'T ASK! SOMETHING ABOUT RUNS ALLOWED BEING A TIE BREAKER.
IF BROOKLYN WINS OR SCORES LESS THAN 4 RUNS, HACKENSACK IS OUT OF THE TOURNAMENT.
AZZ IS KEEPING ME UPDATED AND I WILL POST THE OUTCOME WHEN I HEAR FROM HIM

Cresskill update... After losing in extras 3-2 (hard-luck hurler Dennis Hulse started and pitched into the 9th inning) in game one to the Long Island Storm.
We also lost 3-2 in game 2 to a team from Braintree, Mass. Matthew Marc-Aurele - the kid from North Haledon - pitched and - from what Mugs told me - went the distance and threw very well. All Braintree runs were scored in the 1st inning.
By virtue of losing the doubleheader y'day - today's 10am game was moot (for both teams). We lost again to a team from Connecticut 5-3. Mike Urbanovich started - Mike Irwin (from NH) pitched 2 shutout innings in relief. And Bob Muggeo - that's right - the ol coach - cranked it up for the final two innings. It was his first action in years. Now I guess Bob can say he's thrown in 4 separate decades. He's become the Minnie Minoso of pitching.

I do not have all the details, but Hackensack lost today 4-0. The Pool they were in ended up in a three way tie of three teams being 2-1. Hackensack lost the three way tiebraker by 2 runs. A team they beat yesterday is advancing to the World Series. It does not sound like the best team is advancing.

Congrats to Hackensack and Cresskill for making a good showing!
Sounds like that tournament was run like the Musial State Tourney used to be.
When I hear Stoney is still pitching, I feel young!
When I hear Muggs is still pitching, I feel like I still have a fastball!

To clarify from an earlier posting - I don't think the team that advanced from Hackensack's pool is on it's way to the WS.
Rather, that team starts playing tonight in a four team tourny - which Mugs said starts tonight. The winner of that "final four" wins the regional and advances to cereal city to the series.

my mistake you are correct, it is now a four team double elimanation tournament. If what I am told is correct.
