The Hackensack Troasts have "applied" to come back into the league for the 2009 season.
After playing 3 seasons in the Westchester League and a powerful Tri County league both out of NY, we have decided that we would like to play closer to home and beat up on you local guys instead of driving hours to beat up on NY guys.. (hahahaha)
Seriously though, we would be very happy coming back to play some familiar faces, foes and friends.
Hopefully the league will have us back..

This is very good news. Although i dont believe you will "beat up" on everybody as you did in the past. The top teams have gotten better in your absence. But this will benefit the league big time. Smart move Demenna.
Also, look at the post i made in "whats it take to get somebody to talk". Turns out the guy you dislike here was right all along.

Metleague08, My "beat up reference" was a joke.. It is good to hear that some teams finally improved but the point is that we want to play local again and to help better the league...

mark, That's not trash talking...I do believe it will be business as usual for the Troasts... I would have written into any deal to return that we get to pick the regional we want... Not forced to go AABC if we'd rather go NABF... Metleague08 you gonna identify yourself... At least with the Troasts back this board will be alive again.... Rick

I think the NJ Majors should tell Mr. DeMenna and the Troasts to go to hell. They ran away 3 seasons ago and now they want to come back. The league did fine without them and they will continue to prosper in the future.

PS Now for those that don't know me, I am just kidding. I think the NJ Majors would benefit by allowing the Troasts to compete in their league again. I know it would give me an excuse to come to the games and see some old friends.

I think I can speak for most of the Hackensack Troasts when I say we would truly appreciate being able to compete in this league again. We hope that the league continues to get better and we think that we can only help that. Ultimately, we all want to compete and continue to play at a high level. With us back in the Majors Met League, the level of play will go up. Teams should get fired up to play us. We won't take anyone lightly and we will come to play every game with good pitching and a strong lineup. Hopefully, the top teams like Creskill, Bergen, N.H., R.V., etc., continue to do the same, and with us joining them, the younger teams will follow suit. We want all the teams in the league to circle Hackensack on their schedule. We want to renew some of the rivalries we had. With all that said, the Troasts will make this league better...
For whatever the reasons were that we ultimately decided to leave the NJ Majors Met League for the Westchester Baseball Association (WBA), and there were a valid few (and it wasn't an easy or unanimous decision), it is time to come back home and play in Jersey. We all miss the league on one level or another, and some more than others. We tried something else for a few years, it was fun and it worked out well for us. But with new families forming, gas prices through the roof, scheduling issues, etc., we think it would serve everyone better if we were back. Looking forward to it...

All this talk of a Troast return to the NJ Majors has got me thinking of coming out of retirement. Would the Troasts be interested in a 38 year old FIRST BASE COACH?
