Baseball League in North Jersey

At this time I would like to commend the former Stan Musial League, now known as the North Jersey Amateur Baseball League. They are doing a great job and it is run as a league should be run. Please do not take this as a knock at our league President Henry Hascup. Henry has put a lot of time into this league for the past four seasons, with little support of the teams in this so called league. To my fellow teams the games are great on the field, but that does not make up a league.

The fact that you do not attend meetings, you do not pay your league fee's, you do not submit your rosters. You make this league a joke. If anyone think this league resembles anything of the Met League you are only proving that you do not have a clue!! That was a league run by the teams in the league, that they showed up for meetings, had votes where the teams could determine their own destiny. It was not a perfect league by no means, but they put forth a effort. I thought this league had a chance to become an outstanding league. I kept my team is this league this season, even though I had offers to play in other leagues.

Please note this is not a knock on the players in this league, I think we have tremendous talent and that you do want to play in a really good league. The fact that Ramapo Valley was the only team is this league to submit a roster to the league President is a joke!!!!!

I do not know if there is time to save this league, but something drastic must change and change from this day forward. If it does not, Ramapo Valley will not be returning for the 2007 season. I have taken measures to protect my team, and we are playing in other leagues than the North Jersey Majors.

The North Jersey Majors are Ramapo Valley's first priority for this season. However it is time for the players to step up and question what type of league they belong to.

I understand Danny , as a league we have not united to have things done on time. There are new teams in the league, including mine for the past two seasons. It really seems that we do not have any say even if we show up to meetings. Because the league as a whole does not wish to change to better the league. We have many benefits playing in this league, but we need to have certain deadlines established. Such as why are we waiting until half the season to get rosters in? It should be done at the beginning of the season with a certain # of reserves. Also if we are having trouble getting everyone to show up to meetings, why not begin having penalties for teams not having anyone show up. Or begin conference calls, I was unable to make the league meetings because I had college games, but I did have someone their in my place. I will defend the teams as to say that once the season starts we are mostly concentrating on making sure we have are fields and games scheduled. The paper work and bills should have been done at least a month before the first game. I do not defend teams when it comes down to not paying league fees, because I feel they are taking advantage of the league. Danny things do need to change, why not set up a meeting now???
This is my second year running a summer team in this league, so from what I notice much of what I or other teams have mentioned has been heard but ingnored. Anyway, we are not perfect but we can do better.

thank you for responding. I also got a postive email from Franklin Lakes and North Haledon. All I am looking for is for the teams to step up and be more involved in their own league. You have played in this league for a long time, you understand what is right and wrong.
If we work together we can move this league in the right direction.

Guys the level of play this season has been very good in this league and its still the best summer league I have been a part of. With that being said I would hate to see it fall apart after all these years of terrific baseball. It may not be what it once was but I feel that as a whole we do have to work together and get things done to bring that back. If we have meetings, everybody should come and not just show face but also bring ideas to make this work. My team may not look great now but I feel I have a core of promising young guys who will get better with experience and are headed in the right direction. I want to see this league head in the right direction for all of our benefits. There do have to be some changes and maybe they can be made by next season so we can avoid the pitfalls of teams folding and players jumping to other leagues. This league is a challenge on the field and off, and anybody who has character will step up and respond to it.
