Protest of Teaneck VS Wayne

Scenerio,

2-1 game, lead by Wayne in the top of 7 the seventh inning. Pinch runner on first with two outs and two strikes. We have our player in motion as pitcher goes to the plate. Batter hits a line drive to right field. Pinch runner easily makes third and then the ball goes past the Right fielder. Pinch runner heads for home plate and the ball never gets to home plate. Catcher blocks runner from easly crossing the plate. Pinch runner runs into catcher chest to chest. CALLED SAFE!!! Tie game. The Wayne team argues that the runner has to slide and the umpire agrees and calls the batter out...Game over. I argue with umpire that he said MLB rules. The catcher blocked the plate when our runner had the plate easily. I brought our league rules to him. When he read the rules and realized that we were right. He said "Oh but it was malicious". How do you call him safe and then after Wayne argues that he has to slide, do you call the play out. Then realize that best way to end the discussion is to say after reading the rules that the play was malicious. The rule states that if the runner has the base easily the catcher is not guaranteed protection from the Slide Rule. The rule states "The thinking being that the catcher may suprise the runner by suddenly shutting off the plate or by being reluctant to give up the plate in a situation in which the runner has the reason to believe he should be able to score standing up." Again the umpire called it malicious after I showed him the rules. Our player never came up with an elbow and the catcher should not have been near home plate, Period. We protest this game.

I agree with you that if the runner is going to score standing up, the catcher is on his own to get out of the way of the runner who believes he can score standing up....

the protest is not going to fly unfortunately......the umpire is making a judgement call on what he believes the play to be.......he could make up anything at this point....and probably will to save face......but it's his judgement at this point and if I'm correct you can't protest an umpire's judgement on whether or not a runner can score standing up.....

from the rule book...NOTE: The catcher, without the ball in his possession, has no right to block the pathway of the runner attempting to score. The base line belongs to the runner and the catcher should be there only when he is fielding a ball or when he already has the ball in his hand

Well I expected you to play the whole season when you told me you had a fullride to play Shortstop at Seton Hall. So the rip off came from you taking up a roster spot. When I put you in the lineup you made 2 errors on one play, K'd 4 times and missed two signs....Check yourself. If you knew anything about running a team you would of had one last year. Peace

Ur right I did have a ride goin until I blew out my shoulder acutally makin plays... Full Ride...congratulations...you are forcing me to make my first post ever. Being in the game the last 13 years, I've met a lot of delusional people. However, you took the cake. That is why we remember you. To say you sucked means you had some semblance of skill, just very little. But you were so bad you did not even qualify as to be called a player.

Remember when you came by my house to work out that spring before the season? You were talking about either going to John Jay or you were going to Seton Hall on a full scholorship. We began throwing, and you couldn't even catch the ball, not even for a simple warm-up session. You were just like a little baby who was just given her first glove.

So one post is all this deserves. You are either really, REALLY self-delusional, or a pathological liar. And the person who you lie to the most is yourself. It's hilarious to me that you'd even post here defending yourself in any way. Ask any guy from our team that year, and I'm pretty sure they'd agree with Jorge and I.

One thing you were right about...as long as I am around, you, and most others, stand NO chance of playing 2nd base for the Stars, and I think there's more to it than favoritism. Maybe it's the five all-star games I've been selected to. See you at LSU.
