The Roundtable is going to take place this Monday at 8 :15pm at the Allendale Bar and Grill. The time and place was selected to try and accomdate everyone's schedule. There will be no more changes. I invited members of the North Jersey Amateur baseball league to the meeting. They thanked me for being invited but decided to pass. On that level I think we might be able to work out playing some games agaisnt them, all star or challenge series. Those details will be worked out between the two leagues.
The roundtable goal is to brainstorm some ideas how to make our league better. To that end former Manager of the Fair Lawn Merchants and the Hackensack Troasts Jon Vatcher proposed having this type of meeting.
At this time people attending this meeting are, Jon Vatcher, Danny White (Ramapo Valley), Bob Muggeo(Cresskill), Rick Lutz(Hackensack) Angelo Cifialdi(North Haledon), Henry Hasscup (President) Dax Strohmyer(Ridgewood)
I have invited a couple of former Managers, and am waiting to hear from a few more people. If you are planning on attending please email me at RamapoValley55@aol.com

Take route 17 North to Allendale Ave, follow signs for Allendale. You will cross over Franklin Tpke, you will be in downtown Allendale. Allendale Bar and Grill is one block up on the left hand side.

A very good & positive meeting. Some of the main points:
1. We have to figure out how to keep every team from this year in the league. If we have to help recruit, organize, whatever but we must keep EVERYONE. 2. It looks as if Hackensack may come back in the league which is huge. I think they are really trying to balance thier goals & whats best for local baseball 3. Recruiting high school & college players which has become very difficult. Developing a better pipeline to the local HS & colleges 4. Better playoffs that actually mean something 5. Creating some tournaments with outside leagues & not just for the better teams 6. The problem with 6pm games 7. A more professional approach to the game 8. Getting some other people back involved with the league & help out Henry
We spoke about having another meeting sometime in Sept but before that I'd like to ask everyone this, how many of you were pissed off about that article in the Bergen Record? A 3 run error waiting to happen, only 18 people were at the championship game, etc. But my question to everyone in the league is why weren't you, the players & managers at the game? Supporting the league isn't just playing, it is participating in league events that may not involve your team. If you weren't at that game you SHOULD HAVE BEEN. That is how you support the league. I remember losing to Saddle Brook back in the early 90's in the semi's...it was 3 tough games and we lost to the guy I disliked the most because of the way he recruited players among other things. The next night I was at the field watching the finals because I felt that was my way of supporting the league...I was hoping Saddle Brook would lose but as a manager in the league I was supposed to be there. It is your league & you need to support it

Jon Vatcher continues to hone his skills as a one-handed golfer, and earlier this season he was rewarded with his first hole -in -one. " I didn't even see it roll in." " I was so happy I literally started to pull my pud."
