To All Hackensack Players:
The North Jersey Majors has a league meeting this Friday, and I am going to have to inform the league which way the Hackensack team is going.
AABC of NABF
If we do not work this out IMMEDIATELY I will go into the meeting and advise the AABC that Hackensack is going to join the NABF
I have not heard what the players want.
I have a couple of people's opinions, but have not heard from the majority.
My suggestion is that someone who has the NABF regional & national tournament formats please post what the EXACT format is for this summer.
This way, everyone will have a better understanding of what is what.
I know that the AABC has handed us the 8 team double elimination "mini" regional to host.
The other "mini" regional is being played in Long Island and the winner of the two "mini" regionals will meet in EITHER a one game playoff OR a two out of three playoff.
My vote is, based on my experience with the AABC & because I do not have experience or an understanding of the playoff format of the NABF, is to return to the AABC.
As I told Johnny last week, if it can be proven to me IN WRITING FROM THE NABF, that the NABF is offering a better regional/national format than the one that I am familar with in the AABC, then my vote can be swayed.
As we all know, I, as well as many other players on the team, are skeptical with a one "suicide" game that the AABC regional looks like it will come down to.
I have spoken with Angelo, who has doen EVERYTHING to help our cause, and he cannot guarantee, because of time limitations that there will be a two out of three format for advancement to the AABC national tournament.
Please make comments so I know what Hackensack is looking to do.
Thank you.

First, not many people from our team go on this site anymore. The few that do were at the 101 pub Friday. My vote, as was everyone there, with the exception of Nicky 2guns(who in prime Nicky 2guns mode, and as such abstained) was to give the NABF a shot, not just with an anti AABC vote, but with the idea that we could play our schedule the way we want, when we want. Tri-county games, Nyack, Irvington, New Brunswick, tourneys, etc. etc. Obviously this would have been easier had we just made this decision in October-November, as was suggested, but nonetheless it can still be done. . I don't care what Angelo says, it is going to be a 1 game suicide game. We could be 34-0 and lose that one game and be done!! All we are doing by entertaining his maybes and we'll see's is what we've been doing all along wasting time like we did with the regional format questions and so on. Unless phone calls are made most people on the team are not going to see this message. And if a call is going to placed it is not going to be "read the message board and respond". It's going to be a verbal answer. You're email said for the team to choose, Danny White said you said you would go with whatever the team decided. But you keep asking what the majority and longtime players want after the guys who were polled and at the pub said NABF.. It seems like you are gonna keep asking until you get the answer you want. NABF is the way to go. I tell you what ,I guarentee there will be no 1 loss exit from the NABF or a 1 game suicide. Lets break the umbilical cord and go NABF ,it is better. A tournament is a tournament, it is run basically like AABC but better. We had no idea what we were doing in 2001 and did pretty well, so it's not loke there gonna have us playing on asphalt, with green baseballs, in bracket form, 4 inning games, 4 games a day, 1 umpire format. Its a baseball tournament. I'm with whatever my team, or and particularly longtime teammates, want to do which according to my poll was the NABF, but i've been wrong before

I'm not at all angry Ed. I just want to get this resolved. We should have resolved it in November. When something is prolonged so much it wears on you. Just wanna make the jump and hit the ground running. Looking forward to a great summer. And thank you for reminding me about the Steelers dynasty, Big Ben in 07 also. Lastly, I live for those days. Rick,
I thought that you might wnat to read the two e-mails that I just received from the person who, despite your bashes, I have complete respect for:
Post # 1: The other host will be Mike Liederman in lower NY. The format will be you carry your record over from the prior bracket so if both teams are undefeated it will be two out of three. If one team is undefeated and the other has a loss they will have to lose twice. We are working on times but I can get to monday so if we start earlier we may not need an extra week if each site uses two fields. Final scheduling is not done.
After reading Rick Lutz's comment directed at me on the web site please take your team and go to hell. I bend over backwards for you and this is how I get treated. I guess it is all about Hackensack and not the league as a whole. I make personal sacrifices and I get treated like this. I must be an asshole.
Angelo
After working my ass off for this off season, and the past ten years I have had enough.
I wish you, and the rest of the Hackensack players all of the luck in the world in your quest for the perfect season.
I quit.

Scott First of all you shouldn't quit. We were all in this together to win a national title and it wouldn't be the same if we ALL weren't a part of it. Secondly, where in my post did I bash Angelo? I said that I didn't care what he was saying might or could happen. We have both in the past questioned how hard he has tryed to do things for our team or his motives. I have no personal issues with Angelo, I just think, along with many other people, that he now and in the past procrastinates a little. Maybe it's because his personal life is so busy. That I understand. But we have BOTH had not so perfect words for him in the past in private. Its March 1st, that information about the regional would have been useful months ago. We both were looking at other options since October and you recently asked me to explore the NBC as a possiblity because of the uncertainty of the regional format for us. So, while I definitely don't want you to quit I don't want you to make it look like I was the only one thinking about or questioning the AABC. I may have been more adament in the end but myself and some other longtime mainstays of the Orioles/Troasts feel the same way. I just happen to be the one who is the public voice behind the other players feeling. Meaning I wind up taking the public heat, which is fine. Love always, Rick

Rick,
This was coming anyway.
I remember the last time that we were guaranteed of making a regional.
I do not want to fight with friends about commitment.
My plan all along was to help you guys get set up for the season, and step away.
I told you all from the beginning that Angelo was working feverishly to comply with ALL of our (when you think about it, it is a selfish position for us to take) requests for a regional format.
Believe me, I understand that no one wants to go 24 and 0 during the regular season, 5 and 0 in a "mini" regional, then lose ONE game and have their season be over.
All along, all I ever wanted was what is best for our team.
If you feel that your post was not taking a swipe at Angelo, that is your position.
I do think he was upset about it, and I would have been too.
Scott.

I was taking and have been taking swipes at the seemingly endless process of organizing the whole AABC tournament. I was taking a swipe at how long it takes the AABC to make decisions when the season is so close. How issues have been on the table that we have been discussing since late Sept. early Oct. that the AABC never ironed out. Since Angelo is our AABC guy(the middle man) between what we want to know and the actual answers he is the one who wound up taking the criticism. If Joe Schmo were telling you since October that I'll have and answer next week, next month, after this meeting, after this convention, its being worked on, Im trying to make headway, whatever, then I would have said I don't care what Joe Schmo said. So he shouldn't take it personally. It is how I feel. Rick
